Roles & Responsibilities
An IT Pre-Sales Engineer plays a pivotal role in the sales lifecycle by providing technical support and expertise, helping to connect client needs with appropriate IT solutions. This position encompasses collaboration with the sales team to comprehend customer requirements thoroughly and devise strategic responses to proposals and technical inquiries. The role demands a balance of both technical acumen and sales flair, enabling the engineer to present complex technological ideas clearly and persuasively. A successful IT Pre-Sales Engineer is adept at understanding both the macro and micro technology needs of diverse industries and adeptly tailoring solutions that fulfill client objectives while aligning with the organization's strategic goals.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with sales teams to understand customer requirements and provide sales support.
- Provide detailed sales proposals, technical presentations, and product demonstrations to potential clients.
- Communicate with clients to gather detailed functional and technical requirements.
- Design and document software, network, or system architecture based on client needs.
- Create and deliver proposals, including cost estimates, project plans, and legal documentation.
- Act as a consultant to customers in regards to potential IT solutions and services.
- Ensure solutions meet set standards and comply with client and industry specifications.
- Prepare and present proposals that highlight tailored benefits to liaisons and senior stakeholders.
- Continually update and enhance knowledge of company products and industry trends.
- Assure that any technical issues faced by customers are addressed promptly and effectively.
- Train and guide clients post-installation and address any technical queries during the transition.
- Collaborate with technical teams to design IT solutions that meet client-specific needs and scope.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related technical field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a technical pre-sales or consulting role.
- Strong understanding of IT products, trends, and industry standards.
- Excellent communication skills for explaining complex technical solutions to customers.
- Problem-solving skills to address and resolve technical issues quickly.
- Proven ability to design and implement custom IT solutions based on client needs.
- Experience with responding to RFP/RFI documentation and creating winning proposals.
- Capacity to work in a fast-paced environment with evolving client needs.
- Ability to travel to client sites for demonstrations and installations as required.
