Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
1. Made-to-Measure Curtains & Blinds
- Take accurate measurements for curtains, drapes, sheers, roman blinds, and panel blinds.
- Stitch and alter curtains, valances, pelmets, tie-backs, and cushion covers as per customer specifications.
- Ensure precision finishing (hemming, pleats, eyelets, pinch pleats, wave curtains).
- Maintain consistency with Danube Home quality standards.
2. Upholstery & Soft Furnishing Work
- Stitch and alter sofa covers, chair covers, cushion covers, and upholstery fabrics.
- Repair or adjust upholstery for display items or customer complaints.
- Work with different fabric types (linen, cotton, velvet, blackout, sheer, leatherette).
3. Alterations & Repairs
- Perform alterations based on customer feedback or fitting issues.
- Fix defects such as uneven stitching, loose hems, or incorrect sizing.
- Ensure all finished products meet delivery timelines.
4. Coordination & Workflow
- Coordinate with sales team & design consultants regarding customer requirements.
- Understand work orders, sketches, fabric codes, and measurements.
- Update supervisors on job status and completion timelines.
5. Quality Control & Compliance
- Inspect finished products for measurement accuracy, stitching quality, and fabric handling.
- Follow health & safety standards in the tailoring unit.
- Minimize fabric wastage and report material issues.
6. Equipment & Housekeeping
- Operate industrial sewing machines and cutting tools safely.
- Maintain machines in good working condition.
- Keep tailoring workspace clean and organized.
Desired Candidate Profile
Education & Experience
- Minimum 2–5 years of experience as a tailor in home furnishing, curtains, or upholstery.
- Experience in retail or made-to-measure environments preferred.
- Prior experience in UAE or GCC market is an added advantage.
Technical Skills
- Strong expertise in curtain stitching (eyelet, pinch pleat, wave, pencil pleat, blackout & sheer).
- Hands-on experience in upholstery stitching (sofa covers, cushion covers, chair covers).
- Proficient in fabric cutting, measuring, and pattern reading.
- Ability to handle different fabric materials including linen, velvet, cotton, polyester, and leatherette.
- Skilled in operating industrial sewing machines and cutting tools.
Quality & Accuracy
- Excellent attention to detail with high-quality finishing.
- Ability to follow work orders, sketches, and measurement sheets accurately.
- Low error rate with minimal rework.
Work Style & Attitude
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and handle multiple orders.
- Good time management and organizational skills.
- Team player with a cooperative attitude toward sales and design teams.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to Danube Home quality standards.
Communication & Coordination
- Basic English communication skills (understanding work instructions).
- Ability to coordinate with sales consultants and supervisors.
- Customer-focused mindset with respect for delivery timelines.
Other Requirements
- Physically fit to handle long standing hours and fabric handling.
- Willing to work shifts, weekends, or peak retail seasons.
- Immediate or short notice period preferred.
