Job Description

A Workshop Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing and managing all operations within a workshop environment. Their primary objective is to ensure that all activities are executed efficiently, safely, and within budget, while also meeting quality standards. Workshop Managers work in various industries, including automotive, manufacturing, and crafts, making their tasks diverse and challenging. They are responsible for managing a team of skilled technicians and workers, coordinating production schedules, ensuring maintenance of equipment, and liaising with customers to meet their needs. This position demands strong organizational skills, technical knowledge, and an ability to lead a team in fast-paced settings. The Workshop Manager must ensure compliance with industry regulations and foster a safe working environment for all personnel.


Responsibilities
  • Oversee and manage daily operations and activities within the workshop efficiently.
  • Ensure all work complies with relevant safety and quality standards at all times.
  • Coordinate and optimize overall production schedules to meet customer demands.
  • Monitor workshop tools and equipment to ensure regular maintenance and functionality.
  • Develop strategies for improving operational efficiency and reducing operational costs.
  • Lead and mentor workshop staff, providing guidance and evaluative feedback regularly.
  • Work closely with clients to accurately understand and fulfill their requirements.
  • Maintain an up-to-date inventory of materials, ensuring timely restocks and acquisitions.
  • Implement and maintain procedures for effective quality control within the workshop.
  • Prepare and manage operational budgets, monitoring expenditures and related expenses.
  • Ensure continual improvement by implementing best practices and process improvements.
  • Collaborate with management to set objectives and align workshop goals accordingly.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, management or a related technical field preferred.
  • Minimum of five years experience in a supervisory role in a workshop environment.
  • Strong knowledge of workshop operations, safety procedures, and maintenance practices.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and manage a diverse team of skilled workers effectively.
  • Proficient in using inventory management and production scheduling software tools.
  • Excellent communication skills for coordinating with clients and team members alike.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, forecasts, and relate operational financials effectively.
