The National is looking for a Visual Journalist to join our Data Visualisation team.
You will transform complex data and news into engaging visuals, including infographics, animations, and interactive content for online stories.
This role combines creativity and technical skills to deliver accurate, impactful visual storytelling that enhances audience engagement across platforms.
The ideal candidate will be excited about the prospect of telling stories using multiple tools and technologies.
Role Summary
As a Visual Journalist, you will collaborate with data journalists, designers, and editors to create impactful visual content that enhances storytelling.
You will be responsible for producing infographics, maps, and interactive charts, ensuring they are accessible and engaging across multiple platforms.
Staying ahead of industry trends, you will experiment with new visual formats such as 3D and motion graphics to keep our content innovative and fresh.
Key Skills & Experience
5+ years in visual storytelling with a strong portfolio.
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and data visualization tools like Tableau or Flourish.
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (After Effects, Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator), with experience in video editing and graphic design, is also desirable.
Familiarity with mapping software, and data visualization tools (e.g.
