Job Description

A Veterinary Surgeon is a highly skilled medical professional responsible for diagnosing and treating illnesses and injuries in animals. This role involves a mix of emergency, surgical, and routine procedures, ensuring the welfare of pets and different animals, including livestock and exotic species. As a Veterinary Surgeon, you will be tasked with developing treatment plans, performing surgical procedures, offering guidance to pet owners, and collaborating with a team of skilled veterinary professionals. Excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and a passion for animal care are essential to succeed in this role. You will also have the opportunity to participate in public and community health initiatives, contributing to animal education and wellness programs.


Responsibilities
  • Diagnose illnesses, injuries, and medical conditions in a wide range of animals.
  • Perform complex surgical procedures and provide postoperative care for animals.
  • Prescribe medication and treatment plans tailored to meet individual animal needs.
  • Educate pet owners on preventive care and health management for their animals.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
  • Evaluate laboratory results and diagnostic imaging to guide treatment decisions.
  • Collaborate with veterinary technicians and other staff to deliver high-quality care.
  • Participate in regular continuing education to stay updated with medical advancements.
  • Provide emergency care and perform triage to prioritize urgent cases.
  • Assist in developing animal care protocols and clinic management strategies.
  • Liaise with other veterinary specialists for comprehensive animal healthcare.
  • Participate in community outreach programs and animal wellness initiatives.

Requirements
  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited veterinary school.
  • Valid veterinary license to practice .
  • Proven experience in small and large animal surgery and medicine.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with pet owners and staff.
  • Ability to work under pressure and make quick, accurate medical decisions.
  • Compassionate approach towards animals and clients, ensuring ethical treatment.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
