Job Description

Are you passionate about animal care and welfare? We are seeking a dedicated Veterinary Assistant to join our dynamic team and help support our veterinary clinic's daily operations. This role is perfect for someone who loves working with animals and wants to make a difference in their lives. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, be highly organized, and demonstrate compassion and patience when handling pets and interacting with their owners. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will play an essential role in supporting veterinarians and veterinary technicians in ensuring pets receive the highest standard of care. You'll be part of a team that is committed to delivering exceptional veterinary services, making a real impact on the health and wellbeing of pets.


Responsibilities
  • Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with examinations and procedures.
  • Ensure treatment areas, examination rooms, and equipment are clean and sterile.
  • Handle basic animal care tasks including feeding, bathing, and exercising pets.
  • Collect samples for laboratory testing under the supervision of veterinary staff.
  • Administer medications and vaccinations as directed by veterinarians.
  • Provide compassionate care and reassurance to anxious or injured animals.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of animal visits and treatment plans.
  • Educate pet owners on general animal care and preventive health measures.
  • Support the veterinary team with surgical procedures and anesthetic monitoring.
  • Manage stock and ensure supplies are replenished in a timely manner.
  • Assist with taking and processing X-rays and other diagnostic imaging tasks.
  • Provide assistance in emergency and critical care situations as needed.

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification is advantageous.
  • Previous experience in a veterinary clinic or animal care facility preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.
  • Demonstrated love for animals and a commitment to their well-being.
  • Ability to handle physically demanding tasks and lift heavy animals safely.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail for accurate record-keeping.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
