Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

The Technical Manager – MEP is responsible for leading, coordinating, and controlling all Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) technical activities across assigned projects. This role ensures MEP works are executed in full compliance with approved designs, specifications, safety standards, authority requirements, and project schedules. The Technical Manager serves as the senior technical authority, resolving complex issues, managing design coordination, supporting construction teams, and implementing effective MEP execution strategies.

Project Planning and Coordination

Budget and Cost Management

  • Support value engineering and cost optimization
  • Monitor materials to avoid rework and wastage
  • Coordinate with Commercial and QS teams for progress tracking

Quality Assurance and Compliance

  • Ensure MEP works comply with approved drawings, specifications, and regulations
  • Enforce quality standards across installations
  • Support QA/QC during inspections, testing, and handover

Risk Management

  • Identify technical and interface risks and propose mitigation
  • Ensure compliance with HSE requirements
  • Address technical issues proactively

Team Leadership and Communication

  • Provide technical guidance to MEP engineers and site teams
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, consultants, authorities, and suppliers
  • Lead technical meetings and workshops

Desired Candidate Profile

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Review and approve MEP shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, and calculations
  • Ensure coordination between HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire fighting, ELV, and BMS systems
  • Resolve technical clashes and interface issues
  • Support site teams with technical clarifications
  • Monitor installation progress and compliance with designs
  • Coordinate inspections, testing, commissioning, and authority approvals
  • Attend coordination meetings with consultants, subcontractors, and project teams
  • Support snagging, de-snagging, and final handover documentation
  • Ensure HSE compliance in all MEP activities

General Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to company policies, code of conduct, and regulations
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive data
  • Ensure compliance with QHSE policies
  • Submit accurate balanced scorecards and supporting documentation

Knowledge & Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Professional certifications (PMP, CEng, LEED, etc.) preferred
  • Experience with authority approvals (DEWA, ADDC, Civil Defence) preferred

Skills:

Technical

  • Expertise in HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Fighting, and ELV systems
  • Understanding of MEP drawings, specifications, and authority requirements
  • Knowledge of testing, commissioning, and handover processes
