Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Project Management and Oversight:
Oversee the planning, scheduling, and execution of major engine service projects, both in the workshop and on-site at client locations.
Manage project budgets, track man-hours, and control costs to ensure profitability.
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, class societies, and vendors, providing regular updates on project progress and resolving any technical or commercial issues. - Technical Expertise and Problem-Solving:
Provide expert technical guidance and support for complex engine overhauls, troubleshooting, and repairs.
Act as the final authority on technical decisions, ensuring all work complies with manufacturer specifications and international standards.
Conduct root cause analysis for engine failures and prepare comprehensive technical reports. - Team Leadership and Mentorship:
Lead, mentor, and manage a team of service engineers, foremen, and technicians.
Ensure the team has the necessary training, tools, and resources to perform their jobs effectively and safely.
Conduct performance reviews and foster a culture of excellence, safety, and continuous improvement. - Quality and Safety:
Enforce strict adherence to all company, client, and industry safety, health, and environmental policies.
Ensure all work meets the quality standards of Goltens and relevant classification societies.
Desired Candidate Profile
- Education: A Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. A Class 1 or Class 2 Marine Engineer Certificate of Competency (CoC) is highly preferred.
- Experience: A minimum of 8-10 years of progressive experience in the marine, offshore, or power generation industries. This must include significant hands-on experience with two-stroke and four-stroke diesel engines and at least 3-5 years in a supervisory or management role. Prior sea-going experience as a Chief Engineer or Second Engineer is a major advantage.
- Technical Skills:
In-depth knowledge of diesel and gas engines (especially large-bore two-stroke engines).
Strong understanding of engine systems, including fuel injection, lubrication, and turbocharging.
Proficiency in project management software and technical drawing interpretation. - General Skills:
Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Willingness to travel frequently for on-site projects, often on short notice.
