Roles & Responsibilities

Job description:

1 – Mission

Deliver structural designs for concrete and steel structures in compliance with UAE authority codes, IATA ADRM, ICAO Annexes, and international standards (ACI, AISC, ASCE, EN-BS, IBC). The Structural Engineer ensures quality outputs across design, coordination, and construction stages, leveraging AI-driven analysis, digital twins, and BIM workflows for efficiency and innovation.

2 – Line & Staff Relations

The Structural Engineer reports directly to the Department Leader / Production Director. He/She collaborates with:

• Multidisciplinary design teams (Architecture, MEP, Special Systems).

• Contractors, consultants, and sub-consultants.

• Authorities Having Jurisdiction (Dubai Municipality, Civil Defense, GCAA, etc.).

• Project Managers, Design Managers, and Client representatives.

3 – Key Responsibilities

Design

  • Produce structural design documents across all stages (concept → IFC).
  • Perform analysis and design using Etabs, SAFE, Robot, SAP2000, and related software.
  • Ensure compliance with UAE codes, IATA/ICAO standards, and project specifications.
  • Coordinate structural deliverables with Architecture, MEP, and airport systems.
  • Support preparation of BoQs, PTEs, and technical reports.
  • Integrate AI-assisted simulations and digital twin validation in design.

Construction Supervision

  • Review and approve shop drawings, method statements, material submittals, and as-builts.
  • Attend site inspections, factory visits, and witness testing/commissioning.
  • Prepare technical comments on NCRs, IRs, and material approvals.
  • Monitor on-site quality, progress, and contractor compliance.
  • Support claims review with Contract Advisors when required.
  • Lead inspectors/surveyors during construction.

Quality & Reporting

  • Apply QA/QC controls on all submissions.
  • Monitor deliverables of draftsmen and sub-consultants for compliance.
  • Contribute to weekly/monthly project progress reports.

Desired Candidate Profile

Profile Specifications – Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Structural Engineering (Master’s advantageous).
  • 10+ years in structural design, incl. 5+ years in airports or large commercial projects.

Memberships / Certifications

  • UAE Society of Engineers (mandatory).
  • Abu Dhabi Engineering License (10+ years, mandatory).
  • Dubai Municipality approval (G+12) valued.
  • PE certification preferred.

Knowledge

  • International codes (ASCE-7, ACI 318, AISC 360, EN-BS, IBC).
  • UAE codes and authority requirements.
  • Geotechnical principles.

Software Skills (2025 Updated)

  • Etabs, SAFE, SAP2000, Robot.
  • AutoCAD, Revit (BIM), Navisworks.
  • AI-enabled structural optimization platforms and digital twin tools.
  • MS Office (Word, Excel, Visio).

Soft Skills

  • Strong analytical mindset, client management, communication, and teamwork.
  • Mobility across GCC/international projects.
