Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning
- Deliver high-quality English lessons in line with the National Curriculum for England across assigned year groups.
- Foster a love for reading, literature, and effective communication in students of all abilities.
- Design and deliver engaging, inclusive, and differentiated lessons that challenge and support learners.
- Assess, monitor, and report on student progress, using data to inform planning and interventions.
Curriculum & Resource Development
- Contribute to the ongoing development of the English curriculum, resources, and schemes of work.
- Ensure that lessons are aligned with departmental goals, KHDA expectations, and the school s academic vision.
- Support literacy across the curriculum and collaborate with colleagues to promote cross-curricular initiatives.
Student Development
- Inspire students to develop analytical thinking, creativity, and strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Provide feedback and support to students to enhance academic outcomes and personal growth.
- Encourage participation in English-related enrichment activities such as reading clubs, writing competitions, and debates.
Professional Engagement
- Work collaboratively with department and school colleagues to promote best practices and drive student achievement.
- Participate in CPD opportunities and school development initiatives.
- Build strong partnerships with parents and the wider QE school community.
Compliance & Safeguarding
- Maintain accurate records of lesson plans, assessments, and student progress.
- Adhere to the school s safeguarding and child protection policies and ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment.
- Support the school s commitment to the UAE National Agenda and KHDA requirements
Desired Candidate Profile
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor s degree in English Language, English Literature, or a closely related field.
- Recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, B.Ed., QTS, or equivalent).
- Minimum of 3 years experience teaching English, ideally within a British or international curriculum setting.
- Experience teaching IGCSE English Language and Literature; A-level experience preferred.
Personal Qualities
- Deep knowledge and passion for the English language and literature.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.
- Ability to differentiate instruction to support diverse learning needs, including EAL students.
- Culturally responsive, open-minded, and committed to inclusive education.
