Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Project Planning & Coordination:
Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and resource schedules for all repair jobs.
Coordinate with internal departments (e.g., workshops, logistics) and external partners (e.g., subcontractors, suppliers) to ensure the timely availability of materials, tools, and manpower.
Serve as the primary liaison between the client's representatives, class surveyors, and the on-site repair team.
Prepare for jobs by reviewing technical information, work plans, and safety protocols. - Technical Execution & Oversight:
Oversee all on-site repair activities, including the overhaul, troubleshooting, and maintenance of diesel engines and auxiliary equipment.
Conduct regular inspections to ensure the quality of workmanship and adherence to technical specifications and repair procedures.
Diagnose and resolve technical issues that arise during the repair process, making on-the-spot decisions to prevent delays.
Ensure all work complies with the regulations of classification societies and international maritime standards. - Safety & Compliance:
Prioritize and enforce all company and client safety, health, and environmental policies on the job site.
Conduct risk assessments and safety briefings for the team before the start of each job.
Ensure all team members are using the correct personal protective equipment (PPE) and working in a safe manner. - Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain accurate project records, including daily reports, timesheets, and detailed service reports with photographic evidence.
Track project costs, including man-hours and material usage, and ensure the project remains within the allocated budget.
Communicate project progress, challenges, and any changes in scope to the Project Manager and client in a timely and professional manner.
Desired Candidate Profile
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Education: A Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience in a project-oriented role within the marine, ship repair, or offshore industry. Prior experience with diesel engines is essential.
- Technical Skills:
Strong knowledge of marine mechanical systems, especially diesel engines.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, manuals, and specifications.
Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project). - General Skills:
Excellent leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to manage diverse teams and client relationships.
Willingness to travel frequently, often on short notice, for on-site projects.
A proactive and results-oriented mindset.
