Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive eye examinations, utilizing advanced diagnostic equipment to accurately assess visual acuity, binocular vision, and eye health.
- Prescribe and fit a wide range of optical appliances, including spectacles, contact lenses, and low vision aids, tailoring solutions to individual patient needs.
- Provide expert advice and guidance to patients on eye care, vision correction options, and preventative measures to maintain optimal eye health.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including ophthalmologists and GPs, to ensure coordinated and comprehensive patient care.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, adhering to data protection regulations and professional standards.
- Stay updated on the latest advancements in optometry, participating in continuing professional development and training.
- Manage and oversee the day-to-day operations of the optometry practice, including staff supervision and inventory management (if applicable).
- Educate patients about eye health and potential risks, empowering them to make informed decisions about their vision care.
Desired Candidate Profile
- Holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Optometry from a UK university.
- Possesses a current registration with the General Optical Council (GOC) as a registered optometrist.
- Demonstrates a minimum of 2 years of post-qualification experience in a clinical optometry setting.
- Exhibits a strong understanding of ocular anatomy, physiology, and pathology.
- Demonstrates proficiency in using ophthalmic instruments and diagnostic equipment.
- Possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building rapport with patients.
