Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Manage and optimize database storage, including capacity planning, partitioning, and index management, to efficiently utilize resources and accommodate data growth.
  • Proactively monitor and optimize SQL Server performance, identifying and resolving bottlenecks to ensure optimal database responsiveness and query execution.
  • Design, implement, and maintain database security measures, including user access controls, encryption, and auditing, to protect sensitive data from unauthorized access.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive backup and recovery strategies, ensuring data integrity and business continuity in the event of hardware failures or disasters.
  • Automate database administration tasks using scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, T-SQL) to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, including performance problems, connectivity issues, and data corruption, providing timely and effective solutions.
  • Conduct regular database health checks and performance tuning, identifying areas for improvement and proactively addressing potential issues before they impact users.
  • Implement and maintain database replication and high-availability solutions, such as Always On Availability Groups, to ensure minimal downtime and data redundancy.
  • Collaborate with developers and other IT teams to design and implement database solutions that meet application requirements and business needs.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest SQL Server features, updates, and best practices, continuously improving database administration skills and knowledge.
