Job Description

A Medical Lab Technician plays a crucial role in the healthcare system by performing essential laboratory testing and analyses to aid in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases. These professionals are responsible for handling and processing specimens, operating sophisticated laboratory equipment, and meticulously documenting test results. Responsibilities
  • Conduct routine and specialized laboratory tests on blood, tissue, and fluid samples.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment to ensure precise test results.
  • Follow established protocols and procedures to ensure accurate laboratory analysis.
  • Prepare, label, and store specimens correctly to prevent contamination.
  • Calibrate and troubleshoot laboratory instruments to maintain reliability and accuracy.
  • Validate test results and report findings to physicians and other healthcare providers.
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines and regulations to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Participate in quality assurance programs to improve laboratory services.

  • Communicate effectively with the healthcare team to clarify test requests and results.
  • Keep abreast of new laboratory techniques and advancements in medical research.
  • Assist in the training and supervision of junior lab staff and interns.

Requirements
  • An associate degree or diploma in medical laboratory technology or a related field.
  • Certification from a recognized professional body, such as ASCP or AMT.
  • Proven experience working in a medical laboratory environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to perform complex laboratory procedures.
  • Excellent knowledge of laboratory safety protocols and handling of hazardous materials.
  • Proficient in using laboratory information systems and data entry software.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with healthcare teams.
