Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
- Design, analyze, and oversee the installation of mechanical systems within DEWA pumping stations, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
- Oversee the complete lifecycle of mechanical and electrical systems within DEWA pumping stations, from design and installation to maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Conduct regular inspections and performance evaluations of pumps, motors, switchgear, and control systems to ensure optimal efficiency and reliability.
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs, including scheduling and tracking, to minimize downtime and extend the lifespan of equipment.
- Analyze and resolve complex technical issues related to pumping station operations, including electrical faults, mechanical failures, and control system malfunctions.
- Manage and supervise a team of technicians and contractors, providing technical guidance and ensuring adherence to safety regulations and project timelines.
- Prepare detailed technical reports, including performance analysis, failure investigations, and recommendations for system improvements.
- Ensure compliance with DEWA standards, safety regulations, and environmental guidelines in all aspects of engineering work.
- Collaborate with other engineering disciplines and stakeholders to coordinate projects and ensure seamless integration of systems.
- Manage the procurement of spare parts and equipment, ensuring timely availability and cost-effectiveness.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in pumping station technology and engineering practices through continuous learning and professional development.
- Conduct thorough feasibility studies and prepare detailed engineering reports, including calculations, simulations, and cost estimations for pumping station projects.
- Develop and review technical specifications, drawings, and documentation for mechanical equipment and systems, adhering to DEWA standards.
- Manage and supervise the maintenance and repair of pumping station mechanical equipment, including pumps, motors, and associated systems.
- Troubleshoot complex mechanical issues, diagnose root causes, and implement effective solutions to minimize downtime and ensure operational reliability.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including electrical, civil, and control engineers, to ensure seamless integration of all systems.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations, codes, and standards, including DEWA guidelines and international best practices.
- Prepare and present technical presentations and reports to stakeholders, including project managers and senior management.
- Oversee and manage contractors during installation, commissioning, and maintenance activities, ensuring adherence to project timelines and quality standards.
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in pumping station technology and mechanical engineering practices, and recommend improvements.
Desired Candidate Profile
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
- Possess a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
- Minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience in the design, operation, and maintenance of mechanical and electrical systems within pumping stations, particularly those related to DEWA.
- Strong knowledge of DEWA standards and regulations, including safety protocols and environmental guidelines.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to pumps, motors, switchgear, and control systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively lead and manage a team.
- Proficient in using relevant engineering software and tools, such as AutoCAD, and SCADA systems.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a focus on pumping stations and related infrastructure.
- Proven experience working with DEWA standards and regulations is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of pump selection, operation, and maintenance, with experience in various pump types (e.g., centrifugal, submersible).
- Proficiency in using engineering software for design, analysis, and simulation (e.g., AutoCAD, ANSYS, or similar).
- Familiarity with SCADA systems and control systems used in pumping stations.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
