Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Process Modeling and Simulation:

  • Lead the development of complex, high-fidelity models of the smelting process.
  • Innovate new modeling methodologies and tools to enhance predictive capabilities.
  • Validate and calibrate models using plant data and experimental results.

Control Systems and Automation Development:

  • Lead the design and deployment of sophisticated control systems and automation solutions.
  • Develop novel control methodologies and oversee their implementation across multiple facilities.
  • Collaborate with the Process Automation team to align control strategies with hardware capabilities.

Advanced Data Analytics:

  • Lead data analytics initiatives employing statistical tools and advanced algorithms.
  • Integrate data analytics with modeling and control systems for comprehensive process optimization.
  • Explore and implement new technologies to enhance process understanding and control.

Process Optimization and Improvement:

  • Drive strategic initiatives for process optimization and innovation.
  • Evaluate and implement new technologies and methodologies to advance process performance.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in large-scale improvement projects.

Multi-Physics Understanding and Application:

  • Develop comprehensive multi-physics models that accurately represent the smelting process.
  • Provide expert insights into process behavior and guide strategic decision-making.
  • Mentor junior engineers in understanding and applying multi-physics concepts.

Safety and Environmental Impact Reduction:

  • Adhere to safety protocols and promote safe working practices.
  • Contribute to initiatives aimed at reducing emissions, energy consumption, and waste.
  • Ensure that all solutions comply with environmental regulations and company policies.
  • Lead efforts to enhance safety and environmental performance through technological innovations.
  • Develop models and control strategies that proactively mitigate risks.

Measurement Techniques and Instrumentation:

  • Lead the development of new measurement technologies and diagnostic tools.
  • Evaluate and implement advanced instrumentation to enhance process visibility.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Lead cross-functional collaboration efforts and serve as a technical liaison between departments.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts to stakeholders at all levels, including senior management.
  • Represent the company at industry conferences and technical forums.

  • Stay updated with the latest developments in smelting processes, control systems, modeling tools, and analytical techniques.
  • Engage in professional development activities, attend workshops, and pursue relevant certifications.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s or Diploma’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Certificate of a high-level reduction process course.
  • Specialization Diplomas or Post Graduate courses are highly advantageous.

Desired Candidate Profile

Experience:

  • Over 8 years of experience with a proven track record in process optimization, control systems design, and advanced modeling.
  • Extensive experience in the industry, with a strong emphasis on smelting processes and control systems.
  • Experience leading technical projects and mentoring engineers.

Technical Skills:

Process Knowledge:

  • Comprehensive understanding of the aluminum smelting process and associated technologies.
  • Knowledge of electrochemical processes, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and material properties.

Modeling and Simulation:

  • Proficiency with advanced modeling tools such as Python, MATLAB/Simulink, ANSYS, COMSOL Multiphysics, or equivalent.
  • Experience in developing and validating dynamic and multi-physics models.

Control Systems and Automation:

  • Strong understanding of control theory, including PID control, MPC, adaptive control, and nonlinear control strategies.
  • Experience with industrial automation systems, PLC, SCADA, and DCS.

Data Analysis and AI:

  • Proficiency in data analysis, machine learning, and statistical modeling using tools like Python or similar.
  • Experience with AI techniques such as neural networks, support vector machines, and deep learning.

Software Skills:

  • Familiarity with programming languages and software development practices.
  • Experience with database management and data visualization tools.
