1.Job Details

Position Title:

Officer – Quality Controller

Reports To:

QA/QC - Head

3.Role Purpose:

Responsible managing the on-ground quality control team, for execution of the day to day in-process, final, and source inspections as per customer requirements and organizational standards.

4.Key Accountabilities

Quality Assurance & Control

  • Perform resource planning and deployment for a shift and monitor the quality control activities done by the team.
  • Perform inspection planning for raw material as per standards.
  • Understand client requirements for quality control for given product and instruct the inspectors on the activities to be carried out.
  • Support reporting manager by coordinating with QMS in-charge to carry out regulatory scheduled internal audits and participate in regulatory authority, customers, or third-party audits to ensure adherence to requirements.
  • Should have strong experience in steel knowledge.

Incident Investigations

  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders for investigation of reported incidents and performing root cause analysis, to support development of action plans, including required changes in work instructions / procedures / organizational standards.

Equipment Calibration

  • Provide guidelines and drive the team to perform calibration and operational testing of quality control related equipment, in order to ensure accuracy and adherence to organizational and client standards.

External Certification for Material

  • Recommend testing requirement from external labs, in case of special client requirements or non-availability of equipment in the organization.

Reporting

  • Supervise the consolidation of the quality control records and reports as per quality control standards of the organization and given division, and ensure they are input into system.

Client Interactions

  • Support the reporting management for analyzing any client findings or issues and implement analysis or rectification steps.

Budgets and plans

  • Adhere to departmental budgets and ensure optimal utilization of all available resources.

Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures

  • Follow all relevant departmental policies, processes and procedures so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
  • Contribute to cost-efficient usage of all applicable resources to reduce wastage and unnecessary expense.

Quality, Health, Safety, & Environment (QHSSE)

  • Adhere to all relevant QHSSE procedures, instructions, and controls so that the organization provides a safe, world class, secure and environmentally responsible service to customers, the public and its own people.

Continuous Improvement

  • Motivate team and contribute towards identifying opportunities for continuous improvement across one’s scope of work, in order to achieve the organization's mission, vision and strategy.
  • Share ideas and viewpoints to further streamline processes, thus driving efficiency and improvements across the organization.

Change Management

  • Motivate subordinates and contribute to the identification of opportunities to take part in change initiatives, programs and projects that reflect best practices and changes in the competitive environment.

5.Operating Environment:

  • The job holder is responsible for supporting the Quality Control – Production Lead as well as managing quality control team and their inspections. The job holder is responsible for responding to all employees’ queries across the group. Priorities will always need to be reviewed to better achieve the required level of customer service.

  • The job holder may need to spend time beyond the normal working hours since the job is managerial in nature.

6.Decision Making:

  • The jobholder is expected to implement plans, contribute to the development of departmental level strategies, and lead their implementation.
  • Key decisions having significant impact on the company are referred to the reporting management for approval before implementation.
  • The jobholder exercises financial authority as per the level established in the financial authority matrix within DSS.

8.Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills required for the job

Qualification

Minimum: Diploma in mechanical/metallurgy engineering.

Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in the above.

Certifications

Minimum: ASNT Level 2 certification.
