Job Description

As a Health and Safety Officer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and well-being of employees by implementing, monitoring, and evaluating health and safety policies across the organization. Your primary objective will be to minimize risks and create a safe working environment for all staff and visitors, complying with all legislative and regulatory requirements. You will conduct risk assessments, organize and lead safety training sessions, and inspect workplace environments for safety compliance. By fostering a positive safety culture, you will contribute directly to reducing workplace injuries and accidents, thus enhancing productivity and employee morale.


Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments to identify potential hazards in the workplace.
  • Develop and implement effective health and safety policies in line with legal guidelines.
  • Lead safety training sessions to educate staff on safety procedures and regulations.
  • Carry out regular safety inspections and audits to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Investigate incidents and accidents, making recommendations to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Maintain accurate records of all safety inspections, incidents, and training sessions conducted.
  • Consult with management to identify workplace safety hazards and provide solutions.
  • Ensure that all personal protective equipment is used and maintained correctly by staff.
  • Stay informed on legislative and industry updates regarding health and safety standards.
  • Promote a positive health and safety culture throughout the organization continuously.
  • Coordinate with external health and safety agencies for workplace inspections and audits.
  • Prepare and present detailed safety reports, findings, and recommendations to management.

Requirements
  • Bachelor s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • Proven experience in a Health and Safety Officer or similar role in an industrial setting.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices in the industry.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively conduct training and raise awareness.
  • Capable of performing risk assessments and recommending safety improvements.
  • Well-organized with exceptional attention to detail to handle safety compliance checks.
  • Certified in First Aid and CPR; additional safety certifications are a plus.
