Full job description The Joinery/Fitout Estimator plays a crucial role in the construction industry, responsible for accurately estimating costs for joinery and fitout projects. This role involves analyzing project specifications, interpreting architectural drawings, and assessing materials and labor requirements to prepare comprehensive cost estimates. The Joinery/Fitout Estimator collaborates closely with project managers, architects, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure accurate and competitive bids are submitted and that projects are delivered within budgetary constraints. Key Responsibilities: Cost Estimation: Analyze project requirements, including architectural drawings, specifications, and bill of quantities, to estimate material, labor, and overhead costs accurately. Vendor and Subcontractor Coordination: Source and negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing for materials and services required for joinery and fitout projects. Budget Management: Develop and maintain project budgets, ensuring alignment with client expectations and profitability targets. Bid Preparation: Prepare detailed and competitive bids and proposals, including cost breakdowns and project schedules, in response to tender invitations or client requests. Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks and opportunities associated with joinery and fitout projects and provide recommendations to mitigate risks and optimize project outcomes. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of project estimates, contracts, change orders, and correspondence to support project management and financial reporting requirements. Collaboration: Collaborate with internal teams, including project managers, designers, and engineers, to ensure that project requirements are accurately reflected in cost estimates and bids. Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of industry trends, market conditions, and technological advancements to continuously improve estimating processes and methodologies. Qualifications and Skills: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or related field. Proven experience as an estimator in the joinery or fitout industry. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Proficiency in reading and interpreting architectural drawings and specifications. Excellent negotiation and communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge of relevant building codes, regulations, and industry standards. Strong time management and organizational skills.
