Electrical Technician

We are seeking skilled and experienced Medium Voltage (MV) Electrical Technicians/Engineers to join our team in the UAE. The role involves installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of MV systems in accordance with project specifications, electrical codes, and HSE requirements.

Role & responsibilities

Installation

• Install MV equipment such as switchgear, transformers, Ring Main Units (RMU), circuit breakers, and protection relays as per design drawings and manufacturer specifications.
• Terminate MV cables (including jointing, glanding, and testing).
• Perform busbar connections, earthing, and system interconnections.
• Ensure proper alignment, secure mounting, and stability of MV equipment.
• Follow installation checklists and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
• Coordinate with engineers, supervisors, and other trades during installation activities.

Maintenance

• Carry out scheduled preventive maintenance for MV systems to ensure reliability and safety.
• Inspect and test switchgear, protection devices, circuit breakers, and control systems.
• Diagnose faults, perform repairs, and replace defective components.
• Support engineers during insulation resistance testing, contact resistance measurement, and functional checks.
• Clean, lubricate, and calibrate MV equipment as needed.
• Maintain accurate maintenance logs and condition records.

General Duties

• Strictly adhere to safety protocols, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, and PPE usage.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics and single-line diagrams (SLDs).
• Maintain tools and ensure test equipment calibration is up to date.
• Support training of junior technicians.
• Report progress, issues, and hazards promptly to supervisors.

Preferred candidate profile

• Qualification: B.Tech / Diploma / ITI (Electrical)
