Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
The strong>Engineering Technical Services (ETS)/strong> department ensures optimal performance for one of the world's most advanced aircraft fleets. We focus on fleet technical management, airworthiness, and technical support to uphold safety, reliability, cost-effectiveness, and passenger comfort.
Our skilled Engineers work closely with manufacturers and vendors to advance aircraft technologies. ETS includes Fleet Technical Management, GCAA/EASA Design Organisation, Maintenance Programmes & Configuration, and Technical Publications. We drive innovation and maintain top industry standards to ensure peak operational excellence.
As a Design Engineer you will be responsible to prepare, check, approve design and substantiation data for modifications and repairs on large aeroplanes in accordance with the applicable regulatory requirements, Emirates Design Organisation Handbook, and related Procedures.
strong>In this role you will:/strong>
- Be part of design engineering activities within the terms of Emirates Design Organisation approval, as specified in the approval certificate and Design Organisation Handbook. Preparation of Classification of changes to type certificate and repairs designed by the organisation. Preparation of compliance inspections and compile certification test plans, as required.
- Provide on-site support during the implementation of changes/repairs. Preparation of compliance checklist and update as required. Provide support and expertise to other Technical Services personnel, working on minor/major design changes or repairs. Provide necessary support to Chief of Airworthiness, update to Design Organisation Handbook and related procedures, design data archive, design organisation contactor/subcontractor monitoring program, regulatory audits, addressing any noncompliance, quality, or compliance deficiencies.
- Work closely with outside vendors, MROs, regulatory authorities, and other stakeholders within the company, to create engineering solutions that exceeds expectations. Understand and interpret OEMs data (aircraft manuals, IPC/AMM/SRM/WDM/ESPM), drawings, parts lists, reports) for both Airbus and Boeing. Liaise with CVEs (Compliance Verification Engineer) to ensure compliance with CS-25 and other certification basis requirements.
Specific to Structures:
- Prepare Structural Substantiations and develop design & compliance documents that are necessary to demonstrate compliance with the applicable type certification basis, Operational Suitability Data (OSD), as well as environmental protection requirements, other specifications, and standards, such as; Compliance statements / Engineering drawings / Weight & Balance analysis / Test plans and reports / Compliance inspection plans / Equipment qualifications / Engineering accomplishment documentation and instructions for continued airworthiness including modification bulletins, aircraft and component ICA supplements and Operational Suitability Data (OSD) supplements.
- Prepare Stress Reports, Structural Analysis and Fatigue & Damage Tolerance substantiation reports.
- Experience with advanced FEM software such as Patran/Nastran or similar. Experience with advanced CAD software such as AutoCAD/Catia or similar.
Specific to Cabin Interiors:
- Prepare design and compliance documents that are necessary to demonstrate compliance with the applicable type certification basis, Operational Suitability Data (OSD), as well as environmental protection requirements, other specifications, and standards, such as; Compliance statements / LOPA, Emergency Equipment Layout, and related Engineering drawings / Functional Hazard Assessment, System Safety Assessment / Test plans and reports / Compliance inspection plans / Equipment qualifications / Engineering accomplishment documentation and instructions for continued airworthiness including modification bulletins, aircraft and component ICA supplements and Operational Suitability Data (OSD) supplements.
- Experience with advanced CAD software such as AutoCAD/Catia or similar. Working knowledge on Cabin Systems is preferred. Knowledge or training on Cabin Safety (fireworthiness, crashworthiness, evacuation, etc.) and System Safety Assessment.
Specific to Electrical and Avionics Systems:
- Prepare design and compliance documents that are necessary to demonstrate compliance with the applicable type certification basis, Operational Suitability Data (OSD), as well as environmental protection requirements, other specifications, and standards, such as Compliance statements. Schematic and Wiring Diagrams / Harness / Wire routing installation drawings, and harness build up diagrams / Electrical load analysis (ELA) supplements / Functional Hazard Assessment, System Safety Assessment, EWIS Assessment / Test plans and reports / Compliance inspection plans / Equipment qualifications / Engineering accomplishment documentation and instructions for continued airworthiness including modification bulletins, aircraft and component ICA supplements and Operational Suitability Data (OSD) supplements.
- Basic knowledge or training on Fundamental Avionics, RTCA DO-160, RTCA DO-178C, RTCA DO254 and System Safety Assessment. Experience with advanced CAD software such as AutoCAD Electrical or similar.
Desired Candidate Profile
strong>To be considered for the role you must meet the below requirements:/strong>
- Degree or Honours (12+3 or equivalent) in Aeronautical / Mechanical / Electrical/ Electronics Engineering or equivalent.
- At least 5 years of experience in Engineering in aerospace industry, of which at least 3 years in an EASA Part 21 or GCAA CAR 21 Design Organisation, preferably holding Major change/STC approval.
- Experience in Transport category Aeroplanes.
- Wide Body aircraft experience especially on Emirates fleet types is preferred.
- Experience as a Design Engineer (DE) and previous CVE experience is a plus.
- Knowledge of EASA Part 21.J and GCAA CAR 21 regulatory requirements, including CS-25, CS-26, (E)TSO, and CFR Part 25.
- Experience with DOA on integrating cabin equipment (galleys, seats, wardrobes, safety equipment, other equipment) is preferred. Experience using Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
- Ability to analyse and synthesise technical information for implementation in cost effective ways.
- Demonstrable experience in managing complex tasks and decision making in a fast-paced environment.
