The Opportunity

Our Cyber underwriting offering is a strategic priority for QBE, with notable growth achieved to date and exciting plans to continue this. As a result, we are increasing our Underwriting presence in Dubai with a newly created Underwriter role to join an innovative and successful team across European Operations.

As a leading player in the Cyber market, our global book covers a variety of territories including UK, EUR, MEA, AUS and US whilst offering a broad appetite of coverage providing the capacity to underwrite all types of risk.

As part of our strategic cyber global initiative we have a newly created role available within our Dubai office. This role aims to support the delivery of the QBE cyber growth strategy.

The purpose of this role is to develop and execute channel strategic plans while providing expert technical guidance on a range of products to intermediaries and clients.

Your new role

• Underwrite insurance risks in line with the Business Plan and your personal authority
• Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, brokers, business partners, and colleagues
• Develop new connections to support business growth and strategic goals
• Apply the reinsurance strategy to manage risk and meet business objectives
• Contribute expertise to help shape strategy, share knowledge, and improve practices
• Represent the department and company positively to strengthen brand presence
• Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements
• Follow underwriting standards and best practices to reduce risk and improve efficiency
• Stay informed on market trends and cycles to support effective decision-making
• Communicate clearly with Underwriting Assistants and ensure accurate system entries
  
  
  
  

Your new role

• Evaluate risk for new business & renewals to ensure profitable growth.
• Actively keep abreast of market dynamics and demonstrate market cycle awareness.
• Provide senior technical and specialist product expertise to corporate intermediaries/clients.
• Ensure ongoing personal technical development to achieve the ideal DAL state.
• Adhere to underwriting standards, instructions, and good practice to minimise risks.
• Develop and maintain good working relationships with customers, intermediaries, and stakeholders.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of channel strategic plans.
• Motivate and develop the team by demonstrating good leadership behaviours.
• Achieve overall local underwriting governance requirements and internal audit standards.
  
  
  
  

About You

• Minimum of 3 years experience as a Cyber Underwriter/Broker.
• An experienced Underwriter with a clear focus on building relationships
• Excellent communication skills, with fluency in English language. Turkish and/or Arabic language is a nice to have.
• Excellent organisational, prioritisation and interpersonal skills
• The ability to influence actions and attitudes of others through leading by example
• Good negotiating skills, innovative in underwriting approach and programme design
