Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
The Commis Chef assists senior chefs in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of dishes, ensuring that the kitchen operates smoothly and efficiently. This is an entry-level position ideal for individuals looking to gain hands-on experience, develop culinary skills, and grow within a professional kitchen environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the preparation and cooking of food items under the supervision of senior chefs.
Wash, peel, chop, and prepare ingredients for service.
Learn and follow recipes, portion control, and presentation standards.
Ensure that workstations are clean, organized, and properly stocked.
Follow hygiene, sanitation, and food safety regulations at all times.
Assist with receiving, unpacking, and storing deliveries.
Support other sections of the kitchen as required, maintaining flexibility during busy service periods.
Take part in training and development opportunities to improve culinary knowledge and skills.
Qualifications & Skills:
Previous kitchen or culinary experience is an advantage, but not always required.
Culinary school diploma or ongoing training is a plus.
Basic knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen safety.
Ability to follow instructions, work as part of a team, and take initiative when needed.
Strong attention to detail and eagerness to learn.
Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and holidays.
