Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced “Busbar Design Engineer”with a strong background in designing busbar systems for low voltage (LV) panels, including 100A to 8000A ratings. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of electrical load calculations, thermal considerations, panel layouts, and standards compliance. The role involves designing safe, efficient, and cost-effective busbar configurations for various types of power distribution panels.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and develop busbar systems for LV electrical panels ranging from 100A to 8000A, including main distribution box.

Perform load analysis, current rating calculations, and sizing of busbars based on project requirements and thermal considerations.

Select appropriate busbar materials (copper/aluminium), insulation methods, and supports.

Develop 3D/2D CAD layouts for busbar routing and panel integration.

Ensure compliance with IEC standards, safety norms, and manufacturing guidelines.

Collaborate with electrical design engineers and panel builders to ensure feasibility and correctness of design.

Conduct short circuit and temperature rise considerations during design stage.

Review and approve fabrication drawings and support the production team during busbar assembly.

Optimize design for cost-effectiveness, reliability, and maintainability.

Desired Candidate Profile

Requirements:

Proven experience in LV panel busbar design (100A to 8000A systems).

Proficient in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar electrical design tools.

Strong knowledge of electrical load distribution, current carrying capacity, and busbar de-rating factors.

Familiarity with international standards such as IEC 61439, IS, and NEC.

Good understanding of panel layout design, thermal management, and earthing systems.

Attention to detail and ability to work under deadlines.

Preferred:

Experience with form types of panels (Form 2, Form 3, Form 4).

Knowledge of short circuit withstand capacity testing and thermal rise analysis.

Familiarity with busbar bending machines and insulation techniques.
