Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Review and approve Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and Welder Performance Qualifications (WPQ).
  • Conduct visual inspections before, during, and after welding to verify compliance with applicable codes (ASME, AWS, API, ISO).
  • Monitor welding processes, consumables, and equipment to ensure adherence to approved procedures.
  • Verify welder qualifications and maintain records of certification.
  • Coordinate with NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) teams to schedule and review test results.
  • Identify and document welding defects and ensure corrective actions are taken.
  • Prepare inspection reports and maintain welding quality records for audits and client submission.
  • Ensure compliance with HSE standards during all welding-related activities.
  • Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and internal QA/QC teams regarding welding quality issues.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • CSWIP 3.1 / AWS-CWI certification (mandatory).
  • Minimum 8-12 years’ experience as Welding Inspector in oil & gas / EPC / storage tank / pipeline projects.
  • Strong knowledge of welding processes (SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, FCAW, SAW).
  • Familiar with codes & standards such as ASME, API and ISO standards.
  • Proficient in interpreting drawings, isometrics, and welding symbols.
  • Strong documentation, reporting, and communication skills.
