Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough inspections of welded joints and structures to ensure compliance with industry standards and specifications.
- Utilize advanced non-destructive testing (NDT) methods, such as ultrasonic and radiographic testing, to evaluate weld integrity.
- Prepare detailed inspection reports, documenting findings, non-conformances, and corrective actions, providing clear and concise communication to stakeholders.
- Conduct thorough inspections of welds, ensuring compliance with specified codes, standards, and project specifications, utilizing visual, NDT, and dimensional inspection techniques.
- Review welding procedures (WPS) and welder qualifications (WPQR) to verify adherence to project requirements and ensure qualified personnel.
- Monitor welding activities on-site, providing guidance and support to welders, ensuring proper welding techniques and quality control.
- Perform pre-weld inspections, verifying material traceability, fit-up, and joint preparation, proactively preventing potential issues.
- Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and welding symbols accurately, facilitating effective communication and understanding.
- Witness and monitor Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) activities, ensuring proper execution and interpretation of results, and verify acceptance criteria.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, including weld maps, inspection reports, and non-conformance reports, ensuring traceability and accountability.
- Collaborate with project teams, including engineers, supervisors, and welders, to resolve welding-related issues and promote continuous improvement.
- Ensure adherence to safety regulations and company policies, promoting a safe working environment and preventing accidents.
Desired Candidate Profile
- Possesses a Diploma or Degree in Welding Engineering or a related technical field, providing a solid foundation in welding principles.
- Holds a valid AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or equivalent certification, demonstrating competency and industry recognition.
- Demonstrates 5+ years of relevant experience in welding inspection within the Oil & Gas or construction industries, showcasing practical expertise.
- Exhibits strong knowledge of welding processes such as SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, and FCAW, ensuring comprehensive understanding.
- Familiar with various NDT methods (RT, UT, PT, MT) and their application, capable of evaluating weld quality.
- Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings, welding symbols, and project specifications, facilitating effective communication.
- Excellent report-writing skills with attention to detail, enabling clear and concise documentation of findings.
- Demonstrates strong communication and interpersonal skills, facilitating effective collaboration with stakeholders.
