Job Responsibilities:
- Perform welding and fabrication activities for substation/grid projects as per technical drawings and specifications.
- Weld and assemble structural steel, bus bars, supports, earthing, and other components used in substations.
- Carry out cutting, grinding, and fitting of materials prior to welding.
- Ensure quality welds using various welding methods (SMAW/ARC, MIG, TIG, etc.).
- Conduct welding on different metals such as mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum as required.
- Inspect and test welded joints for strength and compliance with standards.
- Maintain welding equipment, tools, and safety gear in good working condition.
- Follow strict safety standards and permit-to-work systems at substation/grid sites.
- Coordinate with engineers, supervisors, and other technicians to meet project timelines.
Requirements:
- ITI/Diploma in Welding or equivalent trade certification.
- Proven experience as a Welder, preferably in power plants, substations, or grid projects.
- Knowledge of different welding processes (SMAW, MIG, TIG, Gas Cutting).
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and welding symbols.
- Familiarity with safety codes and standards (ANSI, AWS, ISO, etc.).
- Good physical stamina and ability to work in outdoor project environments.
- Certification in welding (3G / 6G preferred) will be an added advantage.
