Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

IOM is looking for an experienced consultant to gather verified information about migration and related issues to populate the departure and destination country pages on WakaWell and write short summaries on topics that help young people make informed decisions about migration.

Organizational Department / Unit to which the Consultant is contributing:

The successful candidate will work under the overall supervision of the Counter-Trafficking Programme Coordinator and under the direct supervision of the COMPASS Project Officer, and in close coordination with the COMPASS communications and awareness raising team (based in Daker, Senegal).

Education

  • Master s degree in Research, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Humanities, Communications or a related field, with at least three years of relevant professional experience; or
  • University degree in the above, with an additional two years of relevant professional experience.

Experience

  • Proven experience in research and analysis;
  • Demonstrated high competency as a writer in English and Arabic;
  • Good grasp of migration dynamics in Egypt;
  • Experience in media and behavior change communications is an advantage;
  • Experience working with international organizations is an advantage.

Languages

  • Fluency in English, French and Arabic is required. Proficiency in English is a strong asset to communicate with the WakaWell project team

IOM s official languages are English, French and Spanish.

Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.

  1. Category B Consultants: Tangible and measurable outputs of the work assignment dates will be given during the finalization of the onboarding process
  • Research and write answers to provided questions for Egypt as a departure country and the main destination countries for Egyptians. The questions cover 5 macro categories: legal, living, health, economy, education, and safety.
  • Compile brief descriptions of resources, organizations and local volunteer networks that support migrants and promote safe migration in Egypt.
  • Research and write answers to provided questions for Egypt as a destination country covering topics such as language; universities and institutions; job market; culture and religion; transportation; money.
  • Research and write a summary of entry requirements for Egypt as a destination country.
  • Compile brief descriptions of useful resources to help young people prepare who are traveling to Egypt.
  • Verify that all information collected is functional and up to date (i.e. through test phone calls, emails).
  • Prepare the content in English and Arabic. The English content will appear directly on the site and the Arabic will be available as a downloadable PDF

Desired Candidate Profile
