Credit Oman is the Sultanate s national Export Credit Agency (ECA), supporting exporters, manufacturers, and financial institutions through trade credit insurance solutions. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Underwriting Manager to lead our underwriting and reinsurance functions and drive excellence in credit risk assessment and portfolio management.

Job Purpose

To lead and manage the Risk Underwriting Department, including all underwriting and reinsurance activities across Credit Oman s credit insurance products. The role ensures prudent risk assessment, strong portfolio performance, and alignment with international best practices in credit, country, and industry risk management.

Job Descriptions Core Responsibilities

• Risk Assessment & Decisions: Lead the team to assess independent credit and financial strength of buyers/obligors to evaluate creditworthiness and acceptable credit exposure levels for recommending internal credit ratings-based decisions.
• Strategic Direction & Policy: Advise management and provide clear direction on risk assessment techniques and tools aligned with international best practices, considering financial and non-financial factors.
• Portfolio Management: Oversee the review and approval of complex underwriting submissions, ensuring thorough risk assessment and pricing accuracy. Develop and monitor the credit risk framework to ensure compliance with organizational guidelines.
• Pricing and Profitability: Understand risk pricing factors, the significance of the claims loss ratio, statistical methods, and risk premium models. Provide input into cross-product growth, pricing of new products, and profitability strategies.
• Reinsurance Management: Possess the skills to convince the Reinsurers for special acceptance of large-value risks.
• Exposure Management: Independently assess the largest credit risk exposures and manage the risk effectively. Clearly understand the concept of exposure and the importance of identifying exposure to both single and aggregation of risks.
• Country Risk Assessment: Conduct thorough assessment and monitoring of country risk factors that may impact the credit insurance portfolio.
• Industry Assessment: Perform deep-dive industry assessments to determine sector-specific risks and set appropriate underwriting guidelines.
• Compliance and Authority: Act within own authority levels and follow the organization s referral process for risks that fall outside these limits.
