Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

To manage and execute all trade finance activities related to Letters of Credit (LCs) and Letters of Guarantee (LGs) for the construction company and its group entities. This role ensures timely issuance, amendment, and settlement of trade finance instruments while maintaining Compliance with regulatory and internal policy standards.


Key Responsibilities


Trade Finance Operations

  • Prepare, review, and process Letters of Credit (LCs) and Letters of Guarantee (LGs) inline with UCP 600, ISP98, and URDG standards.
  • Coordinate with banks for issuance, amendments, cancellations, and closures of trade finance instruments.
  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of documentation submitted to banks.
  • Track LC and LG validity periods and ensure timely renewals or closures as required.

Treasury Coordination

  • Liaise with internal departments (procurement, legal, contracts, project teams) to understand project requirements and align financial instruments accordingly.
  • Ensure trade finance transactions align with treasury and cash flow plans.
  • Monitor exposure limits with banks and provide input for optimizing banking facilities.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of all trade finance instruments and their utilization status.

Risk and Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, legal frameworks, and international trade regulations.
  • Analyze trade finance risks and propose mitigation strategies.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and reports as needed.

Reporting

  • Prepare periodic reports on LC and LG utilization, expiries, and forecasts.
  • Assist in preparing treasury dashboards and bank facility utilization reports.

Desired Candidate Profile

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field (Master's or certification in trade finance is a plus).
  • 5+ years of experience in trade finance, specifically handling LCs and LGs, preferably in a construction or contracting company.
  • Familiarity with international trade practices, UCP 600, URDG 758, and ISP 98 rules.
  • Experience dealing with local and international banks.
  • Knowledge of treasury functions and cash management.

Key Skills

  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and financial systems (ERP experience is a plus)
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Knowledge of banking platforms and trade finance tools

Preferred Certifications (optional but desirable)

  • CDCS (Certified Documentary Credit Specialist)
  • CITF (Certificate in International Trade and Finance)
  • CTP (Certified Treasury Professional)
