Roles & Responsibilities

About the Role

HYS Games is seeking a talented 3D Environment & Track Artist to craft immersive worlds and competitive racing courses for our upcoming hero-driven combat racing project. You will be responsible for designing stylized, painted environments and building dynamic point-to-point tracks that deliver both gameplay clarity and visual impact.

Responsibilities

  • Environment Art
    • Create stylized, hand-painted environments aligned with the project s artistic direction.
    • Build modular assets (props, structures, terrain features) optimized for Unity HDRP.
    • Paint and texture environments to a polished, cohesive standard without external handoff.
  • Track Design & Modeling
    • Build point-to-point racing tracks that work seamlessly with environments that change dynamically during gameplay.
    • Ensure track design and environment harmonize together, supporting both racing flow and combat opportunities.
    • Maintain consistent track standards across all designs in terms of layout, readability, and technique.
    • Integrate unique landmarks, hazards, and shortcuts into course designs.
  • World Building
    • Assemble environments and tracks into cohesive, playable levels.
    • Balance aesthetic presentation with gameplay needs (clarity, pacing, spectacle).
    • Collaborate with game designers to ensure track flow supports competitive play.
  • Collaboration
    • Work with technical artists and Unity developers for efficient asset integration.
    • Partner with the Art Director to maintain stylistic and tonal consistency across environments.

Desired Candidate Profile

Requirements

  • Strong portfolio demonstrating environment modeling and track/world design for real-time games.
  • Proven ability in hand-painting and texturing environments (stylized surfaces such as asphalt, terrain, structures).
  • Proficiency with industry-standard tools (Maya/Blender, ZBrush, Substance Painter, Unity).
  • Solid understanding of scale, composition, and gameplay readability in environments and tracks.
  • Experience optimizing environments for real-time performance (polycount, textures, LODs).
  • Strong ability to collaborate and iterate with a multidisciplinary team.

Nice to Have

  • Experience designing environments for vehicle-based or racing games.
  • Familiarity with Unity s lighting, shaders, and environment workflows.
  • Background in culturally inspired environment design.
  • Passion for racing, action, or competitive multiplayer games.

What We Offer

  • The opportunity to shape tracks and worlds in a fresh, genre-blending project.
  • A creative, collaborative, and ambitious studio environment.
  • Flexible working setup (remote-friendly).
  • Competitive compensation based on experience.
