Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Lens Manufacturing: Perform routine tasks across different manufacturing stages, including surface calculation, lens blocking, generation, polishing, laser engraving, tinting, coating, and quality inspection.
- Equipment Operation: Operate various machines and equipment, assisting with minor maintenance tasks as needed.
- Job Request Understanding: Understand specific technical data and terms for each job request, ensuring accurate processing.
- Machine Care: Properly handle and maintain machines, ensuring they function effectively and adhere to safety standards.
- Quality Control: Conduct basic quality checks throughout the manufacturing process, identifying and reporting defects promptly.
- Work Area Maintenance: Maintain a clean and organized work area, following safety protocols and standard operating procedures.
- Advanced Proficiency: Perform all Technician-level tasks with higher proficiency and accuracy, setting a standard for quality and efficiency.
- Mentorship: Train and mentor junior technicians, ensuring proper skills development and adherence to lab protocols.
- Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot minor technical problems with equipment, both in production and maintenance, to minimize downtime.
- Complex Quality Checks: Perform more complex quality checks, ensuring products meet the highest standards of accuracy and quality.
- Efficiency Support: Assist the Supervisor in maintaining production efficiency, identifying areas for process improvement.
- Task Flexibility: May independently perform all tasks typically assigned to Technicians to support production continuity.
Desired Candidate Profile
High school diploma or equivalent (additional vocational training or certification in optical technology or lens fabrication is preferred).
- Experience: Proven years of experience working in an optical lab or similar manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in using optical lab equipment, including edgers, generators, blockers, and lensometers.
- Strong understanding of optical principles, lens materials, and prescription eyewear products.
- Attention to detail and manual dexterity for precise measurements and intricate tasks.
- Ability to interpret prescriptions, follow instructions, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices in a manufacturing or lab setting.
