Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
The Team Lead / Consultant - Corrosion & Materials will lead the delivery of materials engineering consultancy services to the internal Wood business units and to Wood s external client base.
Roles in this team are crucial for ensuring the safety, reliability, and efficiency of engineering projects and will typically support the following specialist areas:
- Corrosion & Material Selection: Providing expert advice and solutions to avoid and manage corrosion-related problems in new projects or modifications to existing facilities.
- Cathodic Protection (CP): Develop, review and specifiy cathodic protection systems in new projects or modifications to existing facilities.
The key high-level aspects of the role are as follows:
- A technical specialist, capable applying advanced engineering concepts to unique engineering problems, typically requires more than 10 years progressively more responsible pertinent experience.
- Uses advanced technical knowledge to perform engineering assignments and produce engineering deliverables including complex problems and to complete any project tasks with minimal guidance and direction.
- Serves as the Lead Engineer or the project Technical Authority on projects and holds advanced level specialisation in one or more areas of the materials discipline (i.e. corrosion, coatings, welding, CP).
- Reviews and manages complex projects within area of expertise or of a multidisciplinary nature.
- Generally directs highly qualified professionals engaged in complex engineering projects.
- Has authority for a portfolio of consulting projects, managing and providing technical direction and guidance, managing client relationship and project team engagement, with responsibility for cost, schedule, resource allocation and risk.
Specialist level of competence in one or more of the following specialist areas:
1. Corrosion & Material Selection
- Corrosion Management Strategy development and application.
- Material Selection Assessment / Reporting.
- Corrosion Monitoring and Risk Assessment.
- Corrosion Modelling Studies.
- Coating Design and Specification - Onshore and Offshore.
- Development of materials section of Specifications for Valves.
2. Cathodic Protection (CP)
- Cathodic Protection Integrity Assessments - Onshore/Offshore pipelines, equipment and structures.
- Cathodic Protection (CP) field work, TR/test point checks, potential measurements.
- Cathodic Protection (CP) onshore system installation, installing & commissioning test points, anode beds, TR units, monitoring stations.
- Cathodic Protection Design - Offshore Pipeline & Facilities.
- Cathodic Protection Design - Onshore Pipeline & Facilities.
- AC mitigation Design - Onshore Pipeline.

- Technically competent in own discipline, pursues continuous professional development of skills and knowledge according to standards.
- Ability to supervise, manage, motivate and mentor technical professionals.
- Multi-discipline knowledge, knowledge of advanced principles and techniques of engineering as well as quality management standards and practices required.
- Recognized as a technical specialist with ability to develop and mentor junior staff.
- Ability to execute and oversee project scope, budget and schedule
- Consistently demonstrates creativity and innovation in finding solutions and alternatives to address complex client requirements.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for inter-departmental and external company interactions.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve significant and unusual problems and generate substantial improvements to practices and procedures.
- Agile, with ability to adapt and troubleshoot solutions.
- Ability to broadly interpret principles, theories, and concepts of an engineering specialty.
- Possess a good knowledge of the various Business Units, Functions, Sectors and services offered within business area, a general understanding of other Wood business offerings and some ability to network and connect internal stakeholders.
- Has a in depth understanding of Wood's business position and commercial objectives, is able to implement recommend improvements to those commercial objectives. Understands and can manage technical and commercial risk.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
Definition and approval of technical scopes
- Assists in establishing project aims and outcomes to contribute to the development of a comprehensive project design.
- Evaluates current procedures and recommends changes to improve the efficiency of planning and scheduling projects.
- Makes recommendations on project organization requirements, work methods and procedures and technical innovations by devising practical and economical solutions to problems in own or various engineering disciplines.
Desired Candidate Profile
- Bachelors (minimum) or Masters (desirable) Degree in engineering discipline.
- Chartership or relevant professional engineer status accredited by a national or industry engineering institution preferred.
- Demonstratable CPD record showing examples of technical and consulting development.
- For roles in Cathodic Protection, qualifications comparable to NACE CP specialist or ISO 15PHONE_NUMBER, Level 4 and 5 (desirable).
