Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
For Electrical Secondary Engineer.
Analyze RFQs, tender specifications, and client documents for control, protection, and automation requirements.
· Prepare preliminary overall SLDs, protection SLD, and SCADA/communication architecture diagrams.
· Estimate control & protection scope including:
· Control relay Panel counts.
· Relay types or models & quantities
· Power, control and FO cable quantity estimation as per voltage level of Substation.
· Terminal and I/O card requirements.
· Identify typical schematics and wiring philosophies based on prior standards or project experience.
· Interface with proposal, costing, and procurement teams to support technical input for BOQ and bid pricing.
· Provide relay and protection scheme selection recommendations based on voltage level, technical specification, grid codes, and cost-efficiency.
· Suggest design optimizations to reduce cost while maintaining technical compliance.
For Primary Electrical Engineer:
· Prepare primary design drawings including:
· Overall SLD and PSLD.
· Single Line diagram LVAC & DC Distribution System.
· General Overall Equipment Layout (OEL) arrangement for AIS and GIS Substation.
· ERT layout.
· Indoor and Outdoor Equipment layout plans and Sectional views.
· Equipment foundation layout.
· All type of Cable sizing and routing layout diagrams
· Earthing mat sizing calculation and layout with BOM details.
· DSLP calculation for indoor and outdoor with layout and BOM.
· Battery bank, Charger and UPS sizing calculation.
· Busbar calculations and drawings.
· Cable schedule and termination schedule with BOM of Glands and lugs.
· Short circuit force calculation and stringing chart as per IEC standard,
· CT/VT Sizing Calculation.
· Indoor, Outdoor and Road Lighting calculation and circuit diagram & layout.
· HV equipment connection and interconnection details, (EKD) erection Key diagram.
· Conduct equipment sizing and selection (circuit breakers, isolators, CTs, PTs, surge arresters, DG set, Auxiliary Transformer, NGR, etc.)
· Perform clearance studies (electrical & mechanical) as per IS/IEC/IEEE standards.
· Develop and review substation grounding (earthing) design calculation and layout.
· Support the preparation of bill of quantities (BOQ) and material specifications
· Ensure designs are compliant with relevant standards (IEC, IEEE, IS, CBIP, etc.)
· Coordinate with secondary design, civil, Structural, Architecture, BIM, Mechanical, Fire protection, Firefighting, CCTV surveillance and protection teams for interface clarity.
· Support proposal and estimation teams during bidding stages with design input
· Participate in design reviews, client meetings, and technical discussions.
Desired Candidate Profile
For Secondary Electrical Engineer Minimum of 7 to 10 years of experience in Design and Engineering of GIS and AIS Substation projects
Should be working as Electrical Engineer with experience in Secondary Engineering for high-voltage up to 400 kV and extra high-voltage (220kV to 765kV) AIS/GIS substations (Gulf experience is mandatory, for minimum two years). The candidate will be responsible for preparing Relay setting calculation and checking Relay protection & control schematic drawing, LCC schematic logic and drawings, metering, and automation-related design and SAS/ SCADA architectural drawing and deliverables in line with project specifications up to extra high voltage (400kV), industry standards, and client requirements. (Saudi & Abu Dhabi Transco experience is preferred).
For Primary Electrical Engineer- Minimum of 7 to 10 years of experience in Design and Engineering of GIS and AIS Substations projects
Should be working as Electrical Engineer with experience in Primary Engineering Design for High Voltage (HV) and Extra High Voltage (EHV) substations ranging from 380KV (Gulf experience is mandatory). The candidate will be responsible for creating engineering deliverables related to physical Overall Equipment Layout (OEL), equipment sizing, Earth mat grounding calculation and layout, and busbar sizing, DSLP calculation and layout in accordance with project requirements, industry standards, and client specifications. (Saudi experience is preferred)
