Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Job Objective:

Establishes plans and strategies for the organization, storage and distribution of the inventory, stock and finished goods. Effectively manages logistics, warehouse, transportation/deliveries. Understands the whole supply chain and is able to successfully liaise with sales, suppliers, logistic providers, transportation companies and customers to achieve goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Establish a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the department and monitor to ensure effectiveness.
  • Keep track of quality, quantity, stock levels, delivery times, transport costs and efficiency of the Stores Department.
  • Oversee product storage, handling and distribution.
  • In conjunction with Divisional Managers and Finance, use historical data, to determine and maintain stock levels through proper utilization of systems in place.
  • Identify and resolve any inventory discrepancies by conducting checks at regular intervals and ensure inventory and system records reconcile.
  • To direct, manage and co-ordinate all phases of packaging. To develop and implement packaging innovations, improvements and process enhancements while managing operating costs.
  • To approve purchase requisitions as necessary and determine proper storage location of supplies, materials, etc., to allow maximum utilization of space.
  • Keep track and report to management slow moving/obsolete furniture, equipment, etc., in order to devise a plan of action.
  • Maintain a proper identification system in stores for easy access of furniture, materials, equipment, etc.
  • To maintain accurate and updated records of stores transactions.
  • Observe and enforce safety rules and regulations.
  • To manage, train and evaluate the performance of sub-ordinates.
  • Analyze and report monthly transportation, labor and other relevant expenses/information to assess performance and implement improvements.
  • Liaise and co-ordinate activities with Finance, Purchasing and Production Departments.
  • Negotiate rates and contracts with transportation and logistics providers.
  • Meet costs, productivity, accuracy and timeline targets.
  • Comply with laws, health and safety regulations and ISO requirements.
  • Implement new technologies and stay alert to new trends in the sector.
  • Identify savings, i.e. removing waste materials, identifying non-moving products or unnecessary steps in the logistics process.
  • Ensure IT systems in place are effective, maintained and accurate.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in warehouse and logistics management, preferably in furniture manufacturing or a related production environment.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., Infor, SAP, Oracle) and advanced MS Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and organizational skills.
  • Leadership experience with the ability to manage and develop a team.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations, ISO standards, and logistics compliance requirements in the UAE/GCC market.
