Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
- Interpret blueprints and technical drawings to ensure accurate fabrication of steel components, minimizing errors and rework.
- Select appropriate materials and tools for various projects, considering factors like strength, weight, and durability to meet specifications.
- Operate welding equipment and machinery with precision to join, cut, and shape steel parts, adhering to safety standards and quality control protocols.
- Conduct inspections of fabricated components to verify compliance with project specifications and industry standards, ensuring top-notch quality.
- Collaborate with engineers and project managers to optimize fabrication processes, suggesting improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, following safety protocols to minimize hazards and ensure a safe environment for all team members.
- Document fabrication processes and maintain accurate records of materials used, time spent, and any issues encountered during production.
- Train and mentor junior fabricators and apprentices, fostering a culture of continuous learning and skill development within the team.
- Participate in project planning meetings to provide insights on fabrication timelines, resource needs, and potential challenges.
- Stay updated on industry trends and new technologies in steel fabrication to continually refine skills and improve work methods.
Desired Candidate Profile
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in metal fabrication or related fields is highly preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in steel fabrication, demonstrating a strong understanding of fabrication processes and techniques.
- Certifications in welding (e.g., AWS) and fabrication techniques are a significant advantage, showcasing commitment to professional development.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints, with a keen eye for detail ensuring accuracy in every project.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with tools and machinery used in steel fabrication, emphasizing safety and efficiency in operations.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating effective communication and collaboration skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Physical stamina and strength to handle heavy materials and operate machinery safely and effectively, ensuring personal and team safety.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime and weekends if necessary, to meet project deadlines and client needs.
- Fluency in English is required; knowledge of additional languages is a plus, enhancing communication in diverse work environments.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving, with the ability to troubleshoot issues quickly and efficiently to minimize downtime.
