Roles & Responsibilities

An exciting opportunity is available for Specialist III, Pipe/ Applications &Technical Support Based in Jubail and will report directly to Section Head, Pipe.

Job purpose:

As an experienced scientist, performs tasks requiring the selection and application of standard scientific techniques, processes and criteria using judgement in making minor adaptations and modifications

Job Summary:

Job holders at this stage establish distinguishing scientific or technical expertise with demonstrable acquisition of knowledge, principles, practices and procedures in Plastic Pipe field. They evolve into fully independent scientists or researchers in Pipe field, and aim to work independently or with minimal supervision while acquiring experience in developing work-plans, managing tasks, and contributing to the overall effectiveness of their units.

Qualification and Requirements:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics,

Material/Polymer Science or related field.

Minimum 3 years of experience.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Performs tasks/projects of a larger scope and assumes some leadership for specific tasks within the project scope in the field of Plastic Pipe such as material characterization for pipe grades, prepare material data sheet, pipe qualification and performance approval program according to international standards, market need and customer requirements, manage new pipe developments project to fit specific application requirements and meet the deliverables plan and milestones of the project. Engages in initiatives of moderate difficulty.
  • Under the supervision of senior members, evaluates selects and applies procedures and techniques in the field of pipe extrusion, new processing technologies. Identifies problems and related technical issues leading to long-term, generic solutions in the area of pipe and pipe materials.
  • Defines work-plans and approaches and assumes responsibility for timeliness, cost effectiveness, and quality of outputs.  Continually aims to enhance capabilities for project planning, including assessment of cost, scope and schedule against plan.
  • Contributes in providing ideas to improve the efficiency of the unit in the area of pipe field.
  • Continually improves technical expertise and knowledge through experience and application in the area of plastic pipes.
  • Plays an active role in the preparation of reports, papers, presentations, new proposals. Presents papers at technical meetings.  Starts becoming part of identifiable external peer network.
  • Assists in planning, evaluating, selecting, and adapting standard scientific techniques and procedures.
  • Adheres to high process standards by applying the principles of the scientific method; documenting and sharing best practices; and engaging with centres of excellence from academia, industry, and specialized organizations.
  • Adheres to high process standards by implementing quality assurance processes, implementing and complying with safety and environmental standards, and respecting regulatory guidelines.
