Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Assist the Executive Chef in menu planning, focusing on seasonal ingredients and innovative dishes to elevate the dining experience.
  • Supervise kitchen staff, ensuring adherence to culinary techniques and maintaining high standards of food quality and presentation.
  • Oversee food preparation and cooking processes, ensuring dishes are prepared timely and meet restaurant specifications.
  • Manage inventory and supply orders, maintaining an organized kitchen and minimizing food waste through efficient practices.
  • Train and mentor junior kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages creativity and skill development.
  • Implement and uphold food safety and sanitation standards, conducting regular inspections to ensure compliance.
  • Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service and address any guest feedback regarding food quality.
  • Assist in cost control measures, including portioning and pricing strategies, to maximize profitability without compromising quality.
  • Develop and test new recipes, staying updated with culinary trends to keep the menu fresh and exciting.
  • Participate in staff meetings and contribute ideas for improving kitchen operations and enhancing team morale.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Culinary degree or equivalent professional training, demonstrating a solid foundation in culinary arts and kitchen management.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a fast-paced kitchen environment, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
  • Certification in food safety and sanitation practices, ensuring compliance with health regulations.
  • Proven experience in high-volume cooking, showcasing the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Strong leadership skills, with a focus on team dynamics and developing talent within the kitchen.
  • Ability to work under pressure, maintaining composure and efficiency during peak service times.
  • Excellent communication skills, facilitating clear instructions and fostering a positive working environment.
  • Creativity and passion for cooking, with a desire to experiment with flavors and presentation techniques.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to stand for long periods, as well as lift heavy kitchen equipment and supplies.
  • Proficiency in multiple languages, particularly English and the local language, to enhance communication with diverse teams.
