Job Description

A Site HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) Officer plays a critical role in maintaining and promoting a safe work environment at construction or industrial sites. This position involves the development, implementation, and monitoring of occupational safety procedures to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. The Site HSE Officer is responsible for conducting risk assessments, reviewing safety practices, training employees on safe work conduct, and responding to emergencies and incidents. Their role helps in minimizing risks and ensuring that all site activities are carried out safely. Effective communication, leadership skills, and a strong understanding of safety standards are imperative for success in this role.


Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement health, safety, and environment procedures across the site.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Identify potential hazards and implement effective risk management strategies.
  • Investigate incidents or accidents to determine causes and prevent recurrence.
  • Ensure all safety equipment and procedures are up to date and functioning properly.
  • Prepare safety protocols and emergency response plans for potential site hazards.
  • Train and mentor employees on safe work practices and emergency procedures.
  • Maintain records and documentation of safety inspections, incidents, and programs.
  • Collaborate with management to evaluate site safety performance and improvements.
  • Coordinate with regulatory agencies to ensure site compliance with legal standards.
  • Promote a culture of safety where employees prioritize health and safety first.
  • Report to upper management on safety performance metrics and improvement plans.

Requirements
  • Bachelor s degree in occupational health, safety management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three years experience in an HSE role in a similar industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of safety management systems and industrial safety protocols.
  • Strong understanding of relevant health, safety, and environmental legislation.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective safety training and workshops.
  • Proven track record of successfully implementing safety initiatives and protocols.
  • Certification in safety management, such as NEBOSH, CSP, or equivalent, preferred.
