Shipping Officer

The Shipping Officer is responsible for coordinating, monitoring, and executing all shipping and logistics activities to ensure the efficient, timely, and cost-effective transportation of goods. This includes managing import/export documentation, liaising with shipping lines, freight forwarders, customs, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate all shipping and logistics activities for imports and exports.

• Prepare and process shipping documentation including bills of lading, invoices, packing lists, and certificates of origin.

• Liaise with shipping lines, freight forwarders, customs authorities, and transport companies.

• Monitor shipment schedules and ensure on-time dispatch and delivery.

• Track cargo movement and provide status updates to internal teams and clients.

• Ensure compliance with international trade regulations, customs requirements, and company policies.

• Handle freight negotiations and optimize shipping costs.

• Resolve shipping discrepancies, delays, or claims efficiently.

• Maintain accurate records of shipments and related documentation.

• Support continuous improvement initiatives within the logistics and supply chain function.

Key Requirements

• Diploma/Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Maritime Studies, or a related field.

• Minimum 3 5 years experience in shipping, freight forwarding, or logistics.

• Strong knowledge of international shipping procedures, documentation, and Incoterms.

• Familiarity with customs clearance processes and port operations.

• Proficient in MS Office and logistics/shipping systems.

• Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.

• Strong negotiation, communication, and problem-solving abilities.

• Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
