Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
We're seeking an experienced WordPress Developer to join our team in a full-time remote position. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in WordPress development, along with experience working with AI tools and solutions. You will work closely with our design, SEO, and content teams to create custom, high-performance websites that deliver measurable business results through website development.
Key ResponsibilitiesWordPress Development
- Design and develop custom WordPress plugins from scratch
- Create responsive, accessible, and mobile-optimised websites
- Implement SEO best practices in site architecture and technical specifications
- Ensure website security through implementing best practices and regular updates
- Optimise site performance and page loading speed
- Troubleshoot and debug issues across existing client websites
- Work with APIs and third-party integrations
- Set up staging environments
AI Integration & Implementation
- Integrate AI-powered chatbots and virtual assistants into WordPress sites
- Create custom AI solutions to meet specific client needs
- Stay current with emerging AI technologies applicable to WordPress
- Train clients on effectively using and managing AI features
- Document AI implementations for both internal teams and clients
Collaboration & Client Support
- Work with designers to transform concepts into functional websites
- Communicate effectively with project managers and other team members
- Provide technical consultation about WordPress capabilities
- Create technical documentation for websites and custom features
- Contribute to estimation and planning of development projects
Required Skills & ExperienceTechnical Skills
- 4+ years of professional experience in WordPress development
- Expert-level knowledge of PHP, HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript
- Custom plugin development experience
- Strong understanding of WordPress core, hooks, filters, and actions
- Experience with responsive design and cross-browser compatibility
- Knowledge of WordPress security best practices
- Understanding of SEO fundamentals and technical implementation
- Experience with performance optimisation techniques
AI & Advanced Skills
- Experience integrating AI services
- Experience with data analytics and reporting tools
- Knowledge of automation workflows in WordPress
- Ability to evaluate and implement new AI technologies
Soft Skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Problem-solving mindset and attention to detail
- Ability to work with LLM tools to aid in problem solving

Desired Candidate Profile
- At least 4 years experience in a WordPress development role.
- Strong WordPress development skills, with some experience in WordPress plugin development.
- Proven ability to develop custom themes.
- Experience using HTML, CSS (SASS), PHP and JavaScript.
- Experience with Git.
- Experience with Shopify development is a nice to have, not needed
- Demonstrable experience of developing effective working relationships, internally and externally.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent English skills
