Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
The Transport Modeler will be responsible for developing, calibrating, and analyzing transport models using PTV VISUM, supporting the preparation of Traffic Impact Studies (TIS), and providing technical input to various transport planning projects. This role requires strong analytical skills, in-depth knowledge of traffic modelling methodologies, and practical experience in applying modelling outputs to real-world project needs.
Key Responsibilities
• Transport Modelling & Analysis
o Develop, update, and calibrate strategic transport models using PTV VISUM.
o Conduct demand forecasting, capacity analysis, and scenario testing.
o Extract and analyze model outputs to support traffic impact assessments, feasibility studies, and master planning projects.
• Traffic Impact Studies (TIS)
o Apply modelling outputs to support the development of TIS reports in compliance with Dubai RTA and other authority requirements.
o Assist in preparing and reviewing trip generation, distribution, and assignment analyses.
• Data Collection & Management
o Work with traffic survey data, land use data, and socio-economic datasets to prepare model inputs.
o Ensure quality control and consistency of modelling datasets.
• Stakeholder Coordination
o Support presentations and discussions with clients and approving authorities.
o Liaise with internal design and planning teams to integrate modelling results into project deliverables.
• Documentation & Reporting
o Prepare technical reports, modelling summaries, and visual outputs (maps, graphs, diagrams) for project deliverables.
o Maintain modelling documentation and project archives.
Desired Candidate Profile
Required:
· Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering or a related field.
· Solid, hands-on experience with PTV VISUM (minimum 3-5 years professional use).
· Strong understanding of transport modelling principles, traffic assignment, and demand forecasting.
· Proven experience in Dubai or UAE with transport modelling for Traffic Impact Studies.
· Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and technical writing skills.
· Knowledge of PTV VISSIM, SYNCHRO, SIDRA, or other transport software.
Preferred:
· Master’s degree in Transportation or related field.
· Proficiency in MS Excel, data analysis, and GIS basics.
· Familiarity with RTA modelling guidelines, road network classifications, and transport policies.
· Strong presentation and stakeholder engagement skills.
