Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Job Purpose:
To provide Cost Engineering support to cross functional teams within the e-Powertrain (ePWT) module group by producing Cost Estimates for piece part and vendor tooling and supporting evaluation of ED&D costs.
Skills & Competencies:
- Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to form and maintain good relationships internally and externally.
- Commercial awareness.
- Aptitude for mathematics with the ability to analyze and interpret detailed information.
- Good analytical skills.
- Technical mindset and good understanding of financial systems.
- Knowledge of estimating techniques/automotive processes and components would be advantageous.
- Organized and able to deliver against deadlines.
- Good attention to detail.
- Good IT systems knowledge and skills including advanced Excel skills.
- Experience in Siemens TcPCM would be advantageous.
Minimum Experience:
- 5+ years Cost Engineering/Cost Estimating in an Automotive product development organization.
- Experience in cost estimating mechanical components Forging, Casting, Inj. Molding, Stamping.
- Knowledge in cost estimating EV specific components such as HV Battery Pack (Cells & Module components), Electric motor, Gearbox, Inverter, OBC, DCDC, VCU, HV Harness.
General and Task Management
- Analyse technical specifications, statement of works and drawings.
- Collect feedback, data and analysis and share information with Cost Engineering team.
- Provide piece cost and vendor tooling estimates for new and current vehicle variants.
- Conduct benchmarking activities to enable the comparison of current design and cost assumptions with relevant product benchmarks.
- Update Bill of Material costs during main stages of the program.
- Assist in the compilation of internal reports providing ongoing progress to cost engineering team and stakeholders and review data to identify possible cost reduction opportunities.
- Input data into estimating software
- Develop and use cost methodologies and tools, appropriate software models and packages to prepare cost estimates.
- Prepare actual against estimated cost reports.
- Assist with monitoring and reviewing data and information to detect or assess problems.
- Assist in the supplier process to achieve cost optimisation / reduction.
- Support all activities in cost estimating and take a proactive approach towards improvements.
- Provide assistance to more senior staff in the cost engineering function.
Relationship Management
- Liaise with stakeholders to help you develop and refine estimate accuracy
- Work as part of a cross functional team with Manufacturing, Engineering and Purchasing to support cost reduction initiatives, make vs buy studies, supplier negotiations, tenders and contracts.

Desired Candidate Profile
As the successful candidate you will hold a bachelor s degree in engineering, finance, accounting related discipline from a recognized University.
