Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
- Support the preparation of cost estimates and budgets during pre-tender and post-tender stages.
- Help in the preparation and evaluation of tenders, contracts, and procurement documents.
- Oversee contract administration including change orders, variations, extensions of time, and claims.
- Prepare and review of Bills of Quantities (BoQ), cost plans, and value engineering proposals.
- Monitor, track, and control project costs, providing regular financial and commercial reports to the Commercial Manager.
- Conduct cost risk analyses and advise on financial implications of project decisions.
- Lead progress valuations and ensure timely processing of interim and final payments to subcontractors.
- Provide recommendations to resolve commercial disputes and contractual issues with subcontractors and suppliers.
- Liaise with site teams to validate progress reports, measurements, and cost implications.
- Ensure compliance with legal, contractual, and regulatory standards across all commercial activities.
- Mentor and guide junior quantity surveyors, assigning tasks and reviewing deliverables.
- Support the Commercial Manager in final account negotiations and project close-out procedures
Desired Candidate Profile
- Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or Construction Management.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience.
- Minimum 7 years in a senior QS or lead QS role within a contracting company, managing mid to large-scale residential and/or retail building projects.
- Advanced cost planning, estimation, and value engineering skills.
- Expert knowledge of contract law and FIDIC and other standard forms of contract.
- Proficiency in quantity surveying software (e.g., CostX, Candy, Excel).
- Strong commercial acumen and financial reporting capabilities.
- Strong knowledge of construction methodologies and material specifications.
