Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Support the Manager and Senior Manager, Airside Works Approvals, in implementing AMC 59, Operational and Special Ops approvals, and other Airside Works Governance procedures across all Abu Dhabi Airports.
  • Manage departmental QMS/SMS components related to airside works.
  • Build and verify compliance matrices for all relevant regulations, ensuring adherence to GCAA and other regulatory requirements.
  • Develop comprehensive Risk Assessments for projects and works in the airfield, covering all aviation safety requirements.
  • Develop, review, update, and communicate AWAC/ATAC/AMC59/IDM policies, manuals, and procedures to maintain compliance with Aerodrome Certificate and GCAA requirements.
  • Support the Airside Works Approval Manager in defining strategic safety objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Identify and escalate safety risks to senior management through appropriate review channels.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, international standards, and best practices.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives such as automation, digitisation, and process simplification.
  • Monitor safety performance against strategic objectives and report to the Airside Works Approval Manager.
  • Participate and present in Aerodrome Safety meetings and forums with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain and manage the hazard reporting log, ensuring timely closure of issues.
  • Update and maintain Aerodrome/SMS manuals and procedures related to Airside Works Approvals.
  • Collaborate with project teams and stakeholders to minimise operational disruptions due to airside works.
  • Support development of safety-related reports, assessments, and safety cases for submission to senior management and GCAA.
  • Develop and implement safety campaigns and awareness programmes.
  • Monitor compliance with Aerodrome and Safety Management System Manuals, offering guidance and oversight as needed.
  • Ensure all significant changes are managed through the Management of Change Process.
  • Conduct daily airfield patrols to verify compliance with approved Airside Works Approvals and intervene in unsafe or unauthorized activities.
  • Chair weekly Airside Works Approvals Committee meetings, Airside Technical Assurance Committee meetings, Daily Works Conference Calls, Familiarization Sessions, and AMC59 meetings.
  • Maintain compliance with departmental KPIs and SOPs.
  • Develop monthly dashboards and presentations for senior management.
  • Maintain updated aerodrome lookaheads and a tracker of all ongoing airfield works.
  • Establish SLAs with relevant departments to clarify responsibilities.
  • Lead AMC-59 and coordinate with ANS for AMC-25 requirements, as well as with AVSEC and other regulatory bodies.
  • Represent the department in IMS and other management forums as directed by senior management.
  • Continuously monitor compliance with Aerodrome and SMS Manuals across departments.

Desired Candidate Profile

Education and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Airside Works and Project Safety and Operation Management, AMPAP - Airport Management Professional Accreditation Programme).
  • Substantial industry experience with relevant certifications and accreditations deemed suitable for the role.
  • Certifications in Aerodrome QMS, Safety Management Systems, or equivalent experience.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity.
