Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
The Senior Mobility Engineer Design Peer Review will provide independent, expert technical review of Personal Rapid Transit (PRT), Automated People Mover (APM), and Light Rail Transit (LRT) system designs at various project stages, from concept, concept Masterplan, schematic design through detailed and construction documentation. This role ensures that design solutions are technically robust, coordinated, constructible, and compliant with applicable standards and client requirements. The engineer will apply in-depth knowledge of mobility systems, integration, and design coordination to identify potential design gaps, interface conflicts, and opportunities for optimization and value enhancement. The position bridges technical engineering insight with practical constructability awareness, providing the client with objective, data-driven recommendations that improve design quality and reduce risk.
Key Responsibilities
Design Peer Review & Technical Validation
- Conduct comprehensive peer reviews of design documentation for PRT, APM, and LRT systems at concept, schematic, detailed, and IFC stages.
- Assess technical compliance, design coordination, and integration of mobility systems with civil, architectural, structural, and MEP disciplines.
- Verify alignment of design deliverables with client requirements, project specifications, and relevant standards (EN 50126/8/9, NFPA 130, IEEE, ISO).
- Review system layouts, guideway alignment, power distribution, signaling, control, depot, and maintenance facilities.
- Evaluate design optimization opportunities with respect to performance, maintainability, safety, cost, and lifecycle value.
- Issue structured peer review reports highlighting observations, risks, and recommendations for corrective action or improvement.
Design Coordination & Integration
- Review interface management documentation and coordination drawings to confirm compatibility between civil infrastructure and transit systems.
- Assess constructability and operational feasibility of proposed designs, providing practical feedback from a systems integration perspective.
- Engage in multi-disciplinary coordination meetings, providing design validation and technical guidance to ensure coherence across design packages.
Technical Advisory & Quality Assurance
- Support the development of design review procedures, checklists, and QA/QC frameworks for mobility systems.
- Provide technical advisory to clients on design-related risks, standards interpretation, and alternative design options.
- Participate in value engineering reviews, validating proposals for efficiency, safety, and cost-effectiveness.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of peer review methodologies and knowledge sharing within the technical team.
