Job Description

The Architectural Engineering Department at the United Arab Emirates University is seeking a Senior Laboratory Specialist in the area of model making and architectural drafting tools. The preferred candidate should have demonstrated experience in architectural model making and their related tools, and proficiency in Architectural drafting tools. Experience or willingness and adaptability to oversee the diverse Architectural Engineering Laboratories including the virtual and augmented reality lab will be preferred. A minimum of 5 years or experience in a similar role and environment are also required.

Minimum Qualification

Candidates must have an appropriate educational Certificate or degree in Architecture or a related discipline, a minimum of 5 years experience in a similar role, supplemented with documented evidence to support the following:

• Proficient in both physical and digital architectural model making, supported by substantial hands-on experience.
• Demonstrated competence in utilizing relevant equipment such as CNC machines, 3D printers, and similar tools.
• Proficiency in related CAD tools (AUTOCAD, Revit, Sketchup etc.)
• Knowledge on transition tools for 3D printers ( from REVIT, CAD, RHINO);
• Ability to operate and maintain the model making equipment, machinery and machine tools,
• Adaptability, flexible approach and initiative in executing the role.
• Good communication skills
  
  

Preferred Qualification

• Capability to aid and educate students in the usage of CAD tools.
• Receiving instructions from students and/or staff, whether through verbal communication or visual aids like drawings and sketches, and devising optimal strategies for the modeling, fabrication, and/or assembly process by leveraging the available tools and equipment.
• Skill in keeping the Labs operational, safe, and well-maintained, including overseeing designated laboratory areas.
• Evident readiness to contribute to various activities within the diverse Architectural Engineering Laboratories.
• Display adaptability and flexibility in response to the evolving requirements of the discipline.
