Roles & Responsibilities

Kuwait College of Science and Technology is fully licensed by the nation’s Ministry of Higher
Education/Private Universities Council and started its operation in 2016 offering degrees in Computer
Science, Computer Engineering and Electronics and Communications Engineering. In 2022, the student
population exceeded 1600, and the first cohort of engineers has graduated. The University has an
outstandingly high research output in the context of the private universities in the Region.

One of the cornerstones of the University’s strategy is “Engineering with Leadership”, which means that
the University aims to produce engineering graduates who are aware and conversant with management
theory and techniques. Thus, its current engineering curricula already contain significant portions of
economics, management, and entrepreneurship. In the near future, a new Faculty of Business
Management will be launched.

The Department of Information Technology is recruiting ambitious academics with a proven track record
in teaching.

Job Vacancy Senior IT Security Administrator

Candidate should be specialized in security needs of the organization, hands-on experience evaluating,

designing, documenting, implementing, operating, testing, and monitoring security and privacy controls

that support the information system security and privacy program. Responsible for managing information

systems and computing resources for the entire organization. Responsible for determining the needs of

the user community and ensures that the company is providing systems that meet those needs.

Responsible entirely for the security protection of the university technology resources from internal and

external threats.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Evaluate and improve network and security systems and controls and authentication and other
security technology architectures.

• Evaluate, update and create security policies and procedures.

• Security assessments for applications, computer, network, and identify or address areas of
weakness.

• Identify and exploit vulnerabilities in Web applications and mobile, operating system, hardware,
databases, wired and wireless networks, etc.

• Extensive knowledge of security systems and controls covering physical, procedural and technical
areas with appropriate knowledge to small and medium-sized enterprises in some subjects.

• Excellent communication and supply capability to provide security principles for substantive and
non-substantive technical staff.

• Experience in security consulting and risk assessment and compliance activity in administration
including exposure to ISO27001 and other related management standards.

• Knowledge and experience in implementing security best practices and baselines. Expertise in
multiple security techniques such as SSL Certificate, Firewalls, NGFW, UTM, IPS, EPS, and experience
in conducting penetration testing tools.

• Work experience application, identifying threats, and develop test cases to target specific threats.

• Investigating intrusion and hacking incidents, collecting incident responses, and carrying out forensic

investigations.

• Informing the university about the security incidents as soon as possible.

• Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES:
• Education: University degree from an accredited college with a major in Computer Science or

related subject.
• CCNP or higher (CCIE and/or CISSP highly valued)
• Minimum 10-15 years of experience network and security administration. Hands on experience,

exposure Functional competency and knowledge to manage and work in a similar environment
that includes Microsoft Windows platform Servers, Exchange Server 200X or later , Active
Directory, VPN, and VOIP. Solid understanding of the OSI or TCP/IP model

• Deep understanding of networking protocols (e.g., IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF)
• Solid understanding of the OSI or TCP/IP model
• Hands-on experience with monitoring, network diagnostic and network analytics tools.
• Knowledge of the current computer market, internet & e-commerce technologies, trends, and

capabilities
• Knowledge of computer system components and installations
