Roles & Responsibilities

The Public Sector Clients Department, Region 1 (PSC1) is responsible for identifying, originating, preparing, executing, and investing in projects with public-sector clients in South Asia (except Afghanistan and Pakistan), Southeast Asia, the Pacific Islands, and Sub-Saharan Africa across the range of AIIB-covered sectors through various financing instruments and solutions. PSC1 leads the coverage of public-sector clients, taking responsibility for project preparation, due diligence, and approval processes of projects, ensuring that key economic, commercial, financial, and legal issues are considered and incorporated in the financing structure and legal documentation and followed through during the implementation phase. The sectors covered by PSC1 financing include transport, energy, water, sanitation, urban, health, education, digital, and other productive sectors linked to infrastructure.
The Senior / Investment Officer within PSC1 is responsible for contributing to AIIB's lending program in Region 1, especially in South Asia, and will support the PSC1 team in the establishment, maintenance, and development of client relations, identifying potential lending needs, and assist Project Team Leaders in monitoring the implementation of approved projects. The specific responsibilities of this position cover all aspects of client relationship management in relation to the products being offered, such as sovereign loans, sub-national loans, preparation grants, climate-based loans, and nonsovereign loans. Thus, the Senior / Investment Officer will need to work closely with the department's leadership team and senior officers.

Responsibilities:
Assist the DG and managers in the creation and maintenance of client relations and peer relationships.
Assist the DG and managers in the creation of multi-year rolling pipelines in AIIB members.
Support the review of potential member borrowing needs and identification of potential lending opportunities.
Maintain updated information and database of member status, economic outlook, risk profile, and government priorities in the targeted geographies.
Participate in dialogues with clients, co-financing partners, and other stakeholders on business development issues.
Assist the office of the DG in knowledge and information management of the various stakeholders and discussions and proper documentation.
Support business development activities in public-sector infrastructure projects by interacting with clients, governments, other institutions (commercial banks, multilateral agencies, NGOs, consulting firms, contractors, and financial intermediaries), gathering information on the ground and building business relationships.

Requirements:
Minimum of 8-10 years of relevant working experience for Senior Investment Officer (5-7 years for Investment Officer) in client relationship management, business development, and stakeholder engagement in infrastructure and allied sectors in public or private-sector environments, especially in South Asia.
Master's degree or equivalent in management, economics, engineering, or other infrastructure-related fields is required.
An understanding of the challenges facing Asian infrastructure and its allied sectors, and familiarity with the structure and workings of the infrastructure and allied sectors are desirable.
Strong organizational and project management skills to conduct day-to-day management of a large and complex project portfolio.
Experience working with multicultural teams.
Proficient oral and written communication skills in English. Knowledge of a language(s) of other AIIB members in South Asia would be an advantage.
