Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Plan, communicate, oversee and control the maintenance, breakdown repair activities and mechanical

installations of yard cranes (Dockside, tower cranes, EOT etc).

· Follow all relevant departmental policies, processes, standard operating procedures and instructions so that

work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.

Day- to-day operations:

· Completion of reports and quality related documents, safety of subordinates. Overseeing the

maintenance fault diagnosis, troubleshooting and repair, including systematic strip down of components

related to cranes (Dock Side Cranes, Tower Crane, EOT Crane, Jib Cranes, etc,)

· Oversee installation of new cranes and retrofitting of old cranes.

· Coordinate with departments for identifying the job scope and timely highlighting of discrepancies from

specifications

· Liaise with other discipline foremen / supervision to ensure the optimum utilization of available resources,

with the overall objective of successful completion of the project.

· Assist the supervisor in planning activities.

· Ensure that the workers are properly supplied with machineries, tools, equipment and materials and

everything is in proper order and state of maintenance.

· Perform inspections to ensure that the workers performance is up to the set standards.

· Create progress reports on a daily basis and ensure that any significant information is communicated to the

supervisor i.e. resource shortfalls, surplus, HSEQ concerns.

· Handling a group of tradesmen including manpower allocation, overtimes etc.

· Recording of maintenance data and daily work activities and any other as deemed suitable by department

head.

Ensure optimum use of resources and adequate control on wastage of materials/consumables.

· Prepare job turn over for next shift and prepare daily progress reports for job done under his supervision.

· Work as a team leader responsible for development / motivation of sub-ordinates, on the job training and

performance appraisal of the team members.

· Comply with all relevant safety, quality and environmental management policies, procedures and controls to

ensure a healthy and safe work environment.

Ability to read, interpret and follow method statements and procedures, specifications, drawings, and all

other discipline related project and engineering documentation.

Desired Candidate Profile

Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

7-10 years’ relevant experience in crane mechanical maintenance and new crane installations.
